Using the new Zumo

On the main mapping screen you get a little more information than on the 550.

navigation pane

The current time of day is shown in the upper right area of the map. On most roads the posted speed limit is shown in the lower left of the screen. The readouts on each side at the bottom of the screen are now configurable.

Zumo 660 trip data

Simply touch the data that you want and a green check mark shows the item you have selected.

You can select any data point for either of the two displays by selecting the one you wish to configure. The display can be configured differently for map display and navigation mode. This is a clear improvement in usability over the 550. There are three pages of information available in navigation mode and two for standard map display.

The map gives a terrain overlay when zoomed out. This terrain overlay disappears as you zoom in. The zoom buttons are on the screen as "+" and "-" buttons, where the 550 had buttons in the GPS housing

Like the Zumo 550, you can touch the vehicle icon and get your present location. The 660 adds the ability to find nearby exit, hospitals, police or fuel. You can also save your current location to a waypoint.

If you touch "Fuel" you will get a list of the nearest fuel stations with direction and distance.
